Jamel Ramsay brings over a decade of college and high school football expertise to Nassau Community College.

Seven of those years were spent at LIU Post in Brookville, N.Y., where Ramsay was both a player and coach.  His most recent stint in with the Pioneers in 2016 was one of marked success, as he served as both wide-receivers coach and Sports Psychology consultant, helping the team to the first 12-win season in program history, a conference championship, and an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs.

Ramsay previously served in the same role, wide-receivers coach, for the Pioneers from 2008-2010, assisting in all areas of player development as well as strength and conditioning.  This followed a stellar playing career at Post, where Ramsay was a scholarship player and three-year starter from 2005-07, winning three consecutive conference championships and two appearances in the NCAA playoffs.  An all-conference selection, Ramsay was also impressive in the classroom as a two-year Football Scholar Athlete of the Year.

In between stays in Brookville, Ramsay also spent five seasons as the head coach at Paul D. Schreiber High School in Port Washington, N.Y.  He mentored the Vikings from a turnaround 0-8 season to back-to-back 7-1 seasons, and was named New York Jets Coach of the week.

After graduation from LIU Post in 2007, Ramsay played three seasons in the Arena Football League from 2008-2010, with both the Peoria Pirates and the Albany Firebirds.  He also serves as co-owner and trainer at Port Fitness Studio in Port Washington, N.Y.

Ramsay received his bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting and Communications in 2008 from LIU Post, and followed with a dual master’s degree in Sports Psychology and Sports Administration from Lock Haven University in 2016.  He currently resides in Elmont, N.Y.

Woody Aime

Now in his 1st year with the Lions coaching staff, Woody Aime will be in charge of the team’s defensive backs.

In 2016 Aime was welcomed back to his Alma Mater to assist the Defensive backs alongside Jamel Ramsay who led the Wide Receiving group. The LIU Pioneers had a historic season going 11-0 in the regular season with a Conference Championship. Their final season record 12-1 was a season to remember as they were named 2016 ECAC Division II Team of the Year.

A graduate of LIU/ CW Post In 2007, Aime finished his collegiate career with lots of accolades and awards, one of them being CW Post and Northeast-10 conference career leader in interceptions (19).

During the 2005 campaign, Aime was a part of the pass-defense unit which played a major role in the Pioneers’ overall defense, the best in the Northeast-10 conference and one of the best in all of Division II in 2005. In 2003, Aime also played a huge role in the Pioneers being ranked first nationally in passing defense.

Aime’s coaching career began in 2011 at Schreiber High School in Port Washington. There for six seasons, Aime helped lead the team start a new foundation and go from winless games prior to his arrival to achieve success alongside Jamel Ramsay.

Woody Aime, resides in Queens, and owns his custom screen printing shop in Baldwin, LI. He is the proud father of daughter, Alivia Aime.

Title: Linebacker Coach/Special Teams Coach

Paul Jennings joins the 2017 staff, with much excitement in his return to Long Island. Most recently he served as Special Teams coordinator, secondaries coach and A/v coordinator at East Coast Prep located in western MA. At ECP he assisted Myles Hartsfield in earning a scholarship to Ol' Miss University (SEC) as a defensive back. Prior to stepping onto the post graduated scene coach Jennings oversaw the running backs for the Greensboro College football program during the 2014 season helping the ground attack collect over 1000 yards on the ground for the season. Coach Jennings began his college coaching career in 2010 at Amherst College (DIII NESCAC) where he assisted with the Line Backers. In his second season with Amherst, he moved to the offense to coach the Running Backs where he helped  Eric Bunker break the school record for Touch Downs in a season and finished as the #1 Rusher in the conference while earning 2011 offensive player of the year. After leaving Amherst College, coach Jennings served as Defensive back field coach and Special Teams coordinator for the Nichols College program DIII NEFC, during the 2012-2013 seasons. Paul Jennings was a stand out running back and Wide receiver at LIU CW Post DII (NE10) During his career in college, he helped the pioneers win the conference championship twice. Coach Jennings earned his undergraduate degree in Communications in 2009. A 2004 Holy Cross HS (Queens) graduate and a native of Jamaica, NY.

Coach Marc Poppe is entering his second season at Nassau and will be serving as the team’s quarterbacks coach. In 2016 he coached the defensive secondary and was also the Director of Football Operations. 2016 saw the Lions secondary lead all Junior College football in fewest passing yards allowed and fewest passing yards per game at 73.7. The unit was led by returning players Jamir Foman , who finished the season with 4 interceptions; and Jordan Franklin, who earned second team All-American honors. Franklin finished the season with 101 tackles and placed 9th in the NJCAA with 11.2 tackles per game. The group also featured dynamic first year players Malik Wilder and Ahmere Dorsey, who are returning in 2017 and look to continue the success of last years defensive backfield. 

Prior to joining the NCC staff, Coach Poppe proudly coached in the NYCHSFL for 11 seasons at Kellenberg Memorial High School in Uniondale, NY and Holy Cross High School in Flushing, NY. While at Kellenberg from 2009 – 2015 he coached the Wide Receivers and served as the Passing Game Coordinator. He began coaching at his Alma Matta, Holy Cross High School from 2005-2009, first as a Defensive Assistant, then becoming the Offensive Coordinator and eventually the Head Coach of the Freshman team. His stops also included coaching semi-pro football in the N.P.S.F.L for the FDNY Bravest Football team from 2006-2011. He started coaching the Offensive Line in 2006 then became the Wide Receivers coach in 2008. Coach Poppe was part of the 2008 team that proceeded to win the National Championship with a victory over the Phoenix Thunder as well as having a role in the 2011 National Championship team that beat the LAPD Centurions. 

Marc lives in Massapequa, NY with his wife, Fran and their two children: daughter, Maya and son, Luke.
