Concussion Information & Testing

Charlotte United Partners with Carolinas HealthCare System

Charlotte United has partnered with Carolinas HealthCare System to provide concussion information and testing. Charlotte United and Carolinas HealthCare System understand the importance of concussion education and testing for athletes. A concussion is a type of brain injury caused by a forceful bump, blow, or jolt to the head or body that results in rapid movement of the head and results in a change in the athlete's behavior, thinking, or physical functioning.

Symptoms may include headache, nausea/vomiting, dizziness, blurry vision, but may be as subtle as "just not feeling right". Athletes experiencing ANY symptom or ANY sign (such as confusion) seen by parents or coaches  should never return to play on the same day of the injury and should see a trained healthcare provider prior to return to subsequent play. This information is important because of the long term side-effects which can be associated with concussions and the risk of "second impact syndrome" which can result in serious disability or death.

Carolinas HealthCare System has provided an opportunity for players to perform a FREE baseline (pre-injury) screening test using an online computer test which can be done at home. ImPACT testing - applicable to ages 10 and up - gives baseline comparison information which can be used to guide treatment if a player sustains a head injury / concussion during the season.

There are easy to follow steps and information provided in these links found below.
We would like for ALL of our Classic players to participate.
