Recruiting Process

Charlotte United has gathered the following college planning timeline.  Some of the information is pertinent to general college planning, some specific to athletics. We at Charlotte United strongly suggest working with your high school college admissions counselor to develop a plan in line with your personal objectives - academic and athletic.

Freshman & Sophomore Years

Take these years to better your skills and practice on your own to better yourself

Develop resume and cover letter

Create list of schools interested in both athletically and academically

Talk with club coach about college soccer programs that would be a great fit for you

You may receive camp brochures and questions from Colleges

You may make calls at your expense to college coaches

College coach can not call, e-mail or text you

No off campus contact

No official visit

You may make an unlimited amount of unofficial visits

You may e-mail the college coach about future tournaments, but they are not allowed to respond

Junior Year

Start to narrow your potential list of colleges

Provide college coach your games and tournament schedules

You may start receiving recruiting materials the start of junior year (Sept. 1)

You may make college calls to coaches at your expense

College coach may call you once per week starting July 1st after junior year

Off campus contact is allowed starting July 1st after junior year

No official visit

You may make an unlimited amount of unofficial visits

College Coaches will be looking for Verbal commitments from student-athlete

Senior Year

You may receive recruiting materials

You may make college calls to coaches at your expense

College coach may call 1 time a week

Off campus contact allowed

Official Visit allowed beginning opening day of classes your senior year

You are limited to 1 official visit per college up to maximum of 5 schools

You may make an unlimited amount of unofficial visits.National letter of Intent (NLI) is first Wed. of Feb. SIGNING DAY!!
