Recreation Programs

Charlotte Junior Soccer Foundation, Inc. has offered recreational soccer programs for Charlotte children since 1974. The recreational program consists of a Fall and a Spring program.

Our main purpose is to introduce and educate children so they have a lifelong love of the game of soccer. Our Division Coordinators put the teams together with the overall aim of balancing teams by age, experience, and skill level while taking note of both practice day requests and buddy requests. We cannot guarantee any request but we do our best.  Please let us know any special requests or special needs when you register. We organize the teams every Fall season and may hold teams somewhat together in some divisions for the Spring season.

SPRING 2018 SEASON INFORMATION: Play begins in early March and continues through late May. Practices are once a week (U8-U18) in the afternoon for an hour (between 4 and 8 pm and depends on your coach/team/field availability) with most games on Saturday, usually between 8:30-2:00 PM. Moppets/Under 5 and Under 6 practice and play in one hour segments on Saturdays. Due to field limitations, we may cap divisions/age groups where necessary and some divisions may close when full.

FEES: Fees for the Spring 2018 season are $145.  NOTE: Any registrations received after February 1 will incur a $10 late fee (total cost $155) and are not guaranteed a spot on a team. Late registrations are placed on a space available basis with very limited ability to grant requests. If your child is not placed on a team due to late registration, a full refund will be sent via check. Refunds after a player is assigned a team and given a uniform will be decided on a case-by-case basis. Fees include: uniform (socks, shorts, shirt) and trophy/end of season memento (U5-U12); referee fees; field rental, lights and maintenance; team equipment; and minimal administrative fees. The player needs a water bottle and shin guards; cleats are not required but recommended.

AGE DIVISIONS: Charlotte Junior Soccer Foundation offers the following divisions of play--based on school grade level. The age divisions are based on a school year calendar of August 1-July 31 and not the calendar year (Jan 1-Dec 31).

We are relatively strict on age cut offs, especially playing "UP" in Under 5 or Under 6. If you want your child to "play up" (making your child one of the youngest) in Under 5 or 6, you must be a Head Coach or Co-Coach. We also will make few if any exceptions for any child born after 12/31/13. We make exceptions on "playing down" on a case-by-case basis-just email us. Age divisions are outlined above, with each division separated by gender. We automatically adjust players based on grade level into divisions, UNLESS we receive a prior request to play up or down.

If you have any questions, please Click Here to send us an email.

Under 5's: This program is divided into boys and girls teams. The teams are kept very small-5 or 6 max.-and play is 3v3. The teams will practice and play games on Saturday mornings in a combined 1 hour session.

Under 6's: The Under 6's will continue to be Girls and Boys with no co-ed teams. Teams are 6-8 players and play 4v4. They practice and play games on Saturday mornings in a combined 1 hour session with a weekly Skills Night open to all U6 players and coaches.

Under 14s and Under 18s: two divisions, all girls and coed, per age group. The CJr teams play in the MARS league, a scheduling league made up of recreation programs throughout the county. This league is for recreation level players and has specific eligibility rules that are strictly enforced. See marsoccer.org for details prior to registering to make sure you are eligible.
